Our Mission
The Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander (NHPI) Alliance is dedicated to improving and increasing access to resources for NHPI community-based organizations in the United States and the U.S. Territories to ensure the well-being of our communities.
Our Vision
All members of the Pasifika community will have the resources needed to achieve cultural, spiritual, and physical well-being.
History of the Alliance
Founded in 2008, NHPI communities echoed a calling of the multiple issues related to health and human rights that this community was facing. In September 2006, the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities began their voyage with the Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF). Through much discussion they navigated their ways to establishing what is now called the “Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Alliance” incubated by the APIAHF and funded by the Office of Minority Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The NHPI Alliance advocates for the assistance in minimizing the overall health disparities and other unmet needs of the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, and more specifically to develop strategies and solutions to improving— access to and delivery of—quality health care for our NHPI communities. The NHPI Alliance maintains an inclusive operationalization when defining health and well-being, in order to recognize the social and political realities that our peoples face which impact our health and wellness.
